Crypto.com Recurring Buy: schedules, funding, and purchase timing

Crypto.com Recurring Buy automates scheduled cryptocurrency purchases in the App, using a selected amount and eligible payment method. Daily, weekly, biweekly, and monthly schedules spread purchases over time. The quantity received changes with the execution rate and applicable fees, while funding choices depend on jurisdiction.

Updated:
For Recurring Buy, a first card-funded purchase scheduled more than seven days after setup charges before the crypto purchase.

Scheduling a purchase and resolving card setup problems

An eligible asset, a repeat interval, and an accepted payment method define the recurring order; card verification must succeed before card funding works. The App’s Buy screen includes Recurring Buy in the order-type menu. Its setup collects the amount, frequency, and funding method before the final review.

The payment option that appears for an ordinary purchase may differ from the options available for a recurring schedule.

A card needs verified details and an issuer that permits the relevant purchase. Registration links the card to the App’s payment gateway. Funding from an eligible App balance avoids that card-registration dependency, although the balance must cover the purchase. The available choice still depends on jurisdiction and the particular order type. Card funding avoids maintaining a separate App purchase balance. Balance funding puts money or supported tokens into the account ahead of execution, so it requires attention to available funds as scheduled purchases accumulate.

Purchasing problems can require help from in-app support. Transaction date, time, and approximate value provide relevant context. Full card numbers and security codes do not belong in a support message.

Funding sources and control of purchased crypto

Credit and debit cards, eligible fiat balances, and supported Token Wallet balances provide different sources of recurring-purchase funding. Token Wallet payment supports USDC and USDT where available. Those methods fund a custodial App purchase. Changing the funding source does not give the account holder the purchased asset’s private keys.

Payment source Funding and crypto custody
Credit or debit card The card issuer authorizes payment; purchased crypto remains in the custodial App.
Eligible fiat balance Uses cash in the App’s eligible trading account; purchased crypto stays in App custody.
Supported Token Wallet balance Spends an eligible token balance already held in the App; purchased crypto stays in App custody.

The Crypto.com Prepaid Card has its own spending balance. A recurring crypto purchase needs an eligible funding source for the purchase itself; card top-up eligibility does not establish recurring-purchase eligibility. Cash-account labels also need attention because crypto-trading balances and banking subaccounts can serve different functions.

Charge dates and cancellation windows

The first scheduled purchase

Same-day starts

A same-day start triggers an immediate charge for the first purchase, which cannot be cancelled. Later payments follow their scheduled dates.

Later first purchases

For a first card-funded purchase scheduled more than seven days after order creation, the card charge occurs on the eighth day. The crypto purchase still takes place on its scheduled date. Cancel the first order before that card-charge date. For a later start within seven days, the charge occurs on the purchase date, and cancellation must happen before that date.

For a first purchase more than seven days away, eligible Token Wallet or fiat-balance funding charges on the start date. Cancellation is available before that date.

Subsequent purchases

Later recurring payments charge on the scheduled date and can be cancelled before that execution date. Cancellation controls appear on the selected Active order under Recurring Buy.

Purchase intervals and the price that each buy receives

Choosing a repeat interval sets how often the payment recurs, so the amount per purchase also determines the overall spending commitment. A frequent schedule creates more purchase events over the same period. Comparing intervals therefore requires attention to the total budget as well as the amount of each installment.

Dollar-cost averaging (DCA) divides buying across scheduled entries. For the same purchase budget and fees, a lower execution price buys more cryptocurrency units. Higher prices buy fewer units. Fees reduce the budget available for the asset, so the credited quantity reflects both the execution rate and applicable charges. Where purchases use the same payment currency, dividing total spending by total units received gives a spending-based average entry cost. A changing market value then determines whether those accumulated units are worth more or less than their purchase cost.

A rising market can favor an earlier one-time purchase because more money enters before later price increases. A prolonged decline can leave accumulated holdings below their cost even when each later payment buys more units. The schedule distributes purchase timing; it does not select the lowest market price.

Shared purchase limits and completed-order records

Recurring crypto purchases share weekly trading limits with the App’s One-Time and Limit Order volumes. The weekly allowance depends on account status. Accounts without Level Up and those on its Basic or Plus plans have a US$30,000 weekly allowance. The Pro allowance is US$50,000; Private is US$70,000, and Prime is US$100,000. These amounts use USD equivalents. Individual-crypto Recurring Buy has a US$1 minimum and a separate cap of 100 orders per month.

Active and inactive schedules appear in the Recurring Buy screen. The account’s transaction history provides buy and sell records, alongside deposits and withdrawals. Those views answer different questions: whether a purchasing instruction remains active, and what has happened to the balance. An active order alone does not establish that every scheduled installment has completed.

Basket schedules and Exchange DCA controls

App basket schedules purchase a bundle of assets, while Exchange DCA bots provide a separate set of automated trading controls.

Recurring baskets and rebalancing

Crypto Basket can purchase a selected bundle repeatedly using a fixed amount and chosen interval. Rebalancing buys and sells portions of an existing regular basket to maintain its allocation. These settings control additions to holdings and changes within existing holdings, respectively. Regular basket purchases have a US$25 minimum. Basket funding and eligibility have their own conditions, so single-asset Recurring Buy rules do not automatically apply.

Order controls in Exchange DCA bots

Exchange DCA Trading Bots automate buying or selling at recurring intervals. Creating a bot requires a verified Exchange account and an available trading pair. The manual interface supports market orders and limit orders with an Immediate-or-Cancel (IOC) instruction. An IOC order attempts an immediate full or partial fill and cancels any unfilled portion. Those controls belong to the Exchange bot, whose trading fees follow the corresponding spot orders. An App Recurring Buy setup does not establish Exchange access or copy those parameters.

Historical simulations and a schedule’s continuing fit

The DCA Calculator illustrates past performance for selected purchase settings; it does not fix the execution price of future orders. For baskets, its controls include amount, frequency, and historical duration, with a comparison against a one-time purchase. A different market period can change the displayed comparison. If obtaining a particular market price becomes the priority, an App Recurring Buy schedule no longer answers the same task as a price-based order.

Can I fund recurring crypto purchases from Cash Earn in the United States?

Cash Earn cannot substitute for the USD Account used to fund USD crypto purchases. The associated Green Dot Bank Cash Account only moves funds into and out of Cash Earn and cannot itself buy crypto. The USD Account and savings arrangement have separate account agreements and funding functions.

Does cancelling Recurring Buy sell crypto that I already own?

Cancelling a recurring purchase instruction does not sell cryptocurrency already held in the App. A sale needs its own sell order. First-purchase cancellation still depends on the applicable charging deadline, so stopping future purchases does not reverse a first purchase whose cancellation window has closed.

Why does adding a payment card create a small temporary hold?

The App uses a temporary authorization hold to verify a newly added payment card. Its card-registration process holds SGD0.10, or the local equivalent, for up to seven days without charging that verification amount. That hold is separate from the payment that funds a recurring crypto purchase, including any first-purchase charge that follows the schedule’s rules.

Can I schedule recurring purchases of a stake Basket?

Stake Baskets support recurring purchases where App staking is available. They automatically stake the purchased assets and do not support basket rebalancing. Regular withdrawals require unstaking; the asset with the longest unbonding period determines the basket’s wait. Scheduling additional purchases does not remove that withdrawal condition.

Where does crypto from a single-asset Recurring Buy sit before a transfer to self-custody?

A single-asset Recurring Buy credits the purchased crypto to the App’s custodial Token Wallet. External withdrawals have separate address, network, verification, and fee requirements. The selected network must match the destination wallet’s support. A recurring purchase instruction does not itself establish that an external transfer has completed.
